Meet Dr. William R. Parsons

Dr. William R. Parsons is a family dentist who has been caring for patients and building lasting relationships through dentistry for more than four decades. He grew up in Fairfield, Alabama, and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama before graduating from the UAB School of Dentistry in 1980.

Inspired by his childhood dentist—who also happened to be his grandfather’s best friend—Dr. Parsons knew early on that dentistry was the right path for him. One moment that sealed the deal came during a dental appointment when the dentist stepped into the office wearing camouflage and carrying a turkey he had hunted before work. That blend of professionalism, authenticity, and approachability left a lasting impression and continues to shape how Dr. Parsons cares for his patients today.

Before entering family dentistry, Dr. Parsons worked as a medical researcher with the UAB Department of Medicine with a focus on gastroenterology, an experience that deepened his compassion and appreciation for helping others. His favorite part of dentistry is simple and meaningful: seeing patients leave happy and confident after their appointment.

Dr. Parsons married his wife, Susan, in 1979, and together they have two daughters, Haley and Rachel, and eight grandchildren they love spending time with. Outside the office, he enjoys fly fishing—often making his own lures and flies. He’s also a musician and plays with his bluegrass band, the Wayfarers.

Deeply rooted in the community, Dr. Parsons serves as a deacon at Eastern Shore Baptist Church and has volunteered with the Hope Center. His dedication to faith, family, health, and service reflects the same care and integrity he brings to every patient he treats.
